Tech-Enhanced Green Pea Hummus: Innovatively Boost Your Meal with Protein and Fibre

by admin477351

Green pea hummus offers an effortless way to boost protein and fibre intake in everyday meals. This homemade blend combines boiled chickpeas and green peas with a mix of herbs, spices, and healthy fats, delivering approximately 12–13 grams of protein per serving. Beyond protein, it enriches meals with essential vitamins and minerals. Its creamy texture serves as a versatile substitute for condiments like ketchup or mayonnaise, complementing a variety of dishes ranging from wraps and sandwiches to dosa and paratha.

To prepare this nutritious dip, you’ll need a cup each of boiled chickpeas and steamed green peas, along with a tablespoon of sesame seeds, a handful of coriander and mint leaves, one or two green chillies, a garlic clove, and half a teaspoon of cumin powder. Season with salt to taste, add the juice of half a lemon, a tablespoon of olive oil, and a couple of ice cubes. Start by steaming the green peas for seven to eight minutes until they become tender.

Next, combine the steamed peas and boiled chickpeas in a blender with the coriander, mint, sesame seeds, green chilli, garlic, cumin powder, salt, lemon juice, olive oil, and ice cubes. Blend the mixture until it achieves a smooth, creamy consistency. Should the mixture be too thick, incorporate a bit of water and continue blending. Once ready, transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with red chilli powder, pomegranate seeds, or a few whole chickpeas for added flair.

Green pea hummus can be enjoyed as a spread or dip alongside regular meals. It’s an excellent addition to sandwiches, wraps, frankies, dosa, and parathas, or simply as a flavorful dip for fresh vegetables. This recipe represents an easy method to make everyday food more nutritious, without the feeling of restrictive eating. Although green peas are not a complete protein source due to their limited essential amino acids, pairing them with other protein-rich foods can help achieve a balanced diet.
